The 27th annual Carr Center Cake Auction is officially underway.
The cake auction table at Colony Square Mall has been up and running since 8:15 Thursday Morning. One fourth of the cakes were already auctioned off by noon. Volunteers say that the day started off strong.

The Carr Center Cake Auction brought in nearly 50,000 dollars Thursday.
The first day total was 48,120 dollars. The Colony Square Mall was packed with spectators for the auction.

The Carr Center is set to celebrate a silver anniversary as their annual cake auction reaches a milestone.
In it's 25th year hundreds of cakes hit the auction block Thursday and Friday. While the tables at the Colony Square Mall may be empty now by Wednesday night they'll be littered with cakes as the People's Choice Awards take place.
