A Cambridge man will spend more than four decades in prison for the murder of a 21-year-old.
Wednesday in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court, 45-year-old Michael Smith was sentenced to 41-years-to-life in prison. Smith was found guilty earlier this month of murder, attempted murder, felonious assault, grand theft and having weapons under disability.
Authorities say in March of 2011, Smith shot and killed Kyle Carter near the intersection of North 9th Street and Stewart Avenue....
The jury reached a verdict Monday in the case against Terrell Nowlin, who was facing nine charges in connection with the July 2010 murder of Tyler Hardin.
"Mr. Nowlin, having been convicted by the jury in regards to eight of the nine charges, the court hereby orders the bond previously set in this case be revoked." Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge, Mark Fleegle explained to Terrell Nowlin, "You will remain in the custody of the Sheriff."
A woman admitted in court Monday to obstruction of justice in connection with the murder of a Zanesville man.
22-year-old Jasmine Lakich of Zanesville admitted to the felony, which is tied to the search for Joey Hampton. Hampton was charged with the murder of Donte Wolford in September. He went on the run for a month and was apprehended in Florida.
Authorities say Lakich was in the company of Hampton five days after the murder in Indiana.
A Zanesville man is currently in the Muskingum County Jail after being indicted Wednesday for the murder of his 10 month old son.
Detective Sgt. Ric Roush said that 29-year-old Joseph Miller of Zanesville was arrested Thursday afternoon without incident and will be arraigned in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court next Wednesday. He's charged with one count of murder and one count of second degree felony child endangering.
