The Muskingum County Water Department has issued a boil advisory due to a water line break.

The department said that all customers that were without water pressure as a result of a water line break on Jersey Ridge Road should boil their water. The advisory affects the area west of Licking Road, including all of the West Pike and side roads.

Muskingum County Commissioners met with city and county water officials in an effort to add additional connecting lines between the two water supplies.

The proposed locations would add a more permanent connection to either Richards or Coal Run roads.

Residents of Mount Sterling and Gratiot are on their way to being connected to Muskingum County's water supply.

The county has been working with the village of Mount Sterling to replace its existing water supply with a new water line.  Muskingum County Projects Director Don Madden said once that decision was made, Ohio EPA asked the county if it would extend service to the Gratiot area because of contamination problems.

The Muskingum County Water Department is adding a new machine to its line-up.

Muskingum County Water and Sewer customers may need to redesign their monthly budget starting in 2012.

If you live east of the Muskingum River, you likely woke-up to little or no water service Friday morning.

Muskingum County Water Department Manager Don Madden said shortly before 5 a.m. residents began reporting low water pressure. Just after sunrise a 12-inch water main break was located near the Airport Industrial Park. Madden said the line effects a large number of east Muskingum County residents.

A two month hydrant flushing project is underway in Muskingum County.

Over one thousand hydrants are being flushed by county water workers. There is two reasons for this. One is to remove sediment from the line and the other is to check each hydrant to see if it needs repaired. If this wasn't done it could spell danger.

The Muskingum County Water Department has issued a boil advisory for some of its customers.

The following area is affected: Mussleman Drive from Newark Road to Chevington Circle.

Customers should check for discoloration before doing laundry.

The boil advisory is in effect until further notice.
