What a way to open the boys basketball season. In a game that was thought to be a low posession, grind-it-out type affair, it proved to be anything but in Southtown tonight. On this Labor Day the celebration of workers was at the forefront of so many minds as the talk of the country's weak job growth and high levels of unemployment continues.

Licking County held primary elections on Tuesday.

The only contested race on the ballot was the Republican primary for mayor of Newark. Incumbent Bob Diebold will not be serving another term. He lost the primary to Newark city treasurer Jeff Hall. Out of 2560 votes cast Hall received 39.53 percent to Diebold's 35 percent and Coshocton music teacher Mike Blowers 25.47 percent.

Hall will face Democrat Max Sutton in the November election.
