5th Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s Chili Cook Off

ZANESVILLE, OH – An annual Chili Cook Off is set to return to Zanesville this week.

The 5th annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s Chili Cook Off will be happening on Wednesday, September 9th at Y-Bridge Brewing Company.

Ray Ballard, the Brewmaster at Y-Bridge Brewing Company, says many local businesses have gotten involved this year, including the Barn who will be defending their title.

“We have several participating restaurants in the area, and some individuals sign up for it.” Ballard said. “Usually between 8 to 12 different chilis and you come in, you’ll get a flight of chili or a flight of all of the different flavors and people will pick their favorites.”

There will also be a silent auction and 50/50 drawing in addition to some live music.

Dave Hawkins, the Musical Guest for the Chili Cook Off, says events like this are near and dear to his heart, so he’s excited to lend his musical talents for the evening.

“Events like this, if I have the opportunity to offer music, I’d love to come and play for them.” Hawkins said. “I’ve had members of my family who have dealt with Alzheimer’s and as soon as Kayla asked me about coming and playing, I said sure! But chili is added, Oh! I get to eat chili! So put both of those together, we’re good.”

The Chili Cook Off will kick off at 5PM at Y-Bridge Brewing Company, located at 1417 Linden Ave.
