Rambo Health to Host Asthma and COPD Open House

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s something that affects millions of Americans everyday and Rambo Memorial Health Center is doing something to help make people more prepared.
On May 14, Rambo Health will host an open house to educate people who live with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on how to live with the condition. Joyce Bates, who is a staff nurse for Rambo, said that even those not affected by the disease could benefit from the open house.
“Anyone can come to this. Even if one of your best friends has asthma or COPD it would be a really good idea for you to learn more about their disease,” said Bates.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that one-and-12 Americans suffer from asthma and according to Gloria Brown, the executive director of Rambo, 12 million American have COPD and 12 million more are undiagnosed.
Brown said the open house will feature experts in different fields that can help people better understand how to live with asthma and COPD. Brown also said the open house will have prizes to promote people to live healthier lifestyles.
“We also have a Fitbit as an adult prize because we also want to encourage them to exercise,” said Brown. “Just because you have a breathing problem doesn’t mean that you can’t exercise even if you’re just walking for ten minutes a day.”
The open house will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Rambo Health at 711 Main Street. For more information you can visit their website at rambomemorialhealthcenter.org.
