Authorities: Teen arrested in mother’s stabbing death

DE GRAFF, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a 16-year-old boy is in custody for the stabbing death of his mother in western Ohio.

Logan County Sheriff Randall Dodds has identified the woman killed Friday morning in the village of De Graff as 36-year-old Crystal Caudill.

Dodds says Caudill ran to a neighbor’s home after being stabbed and told sheriff’s deputies she’d been attacked by her son. She died at a hospital.

The boy was arrested after calling 911 in neighboring Champaign County. Dodds says the teen will be charged after investigators consult with prosecutors and will likely appear in Juvenile Court next week.

Dodds says deputies had not been called previously to the family’s home.

The high school where the teen attends was locked down Friday while authorities searched for him.
