FEMA and S.B.A set deadline for storm damage relief

Roseville Tornado

ROSEVILLE, Ohio – If you have property damaged by the Memorial Day storms, you are running out of time to get relief.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U-S Small Business Administration have paired up to help those in need. FEMA Media Relations Specialist Gerard Hammink said they have helped several people in need.

“We just want people to be aware that the FEMA registration is still open until the day after Labor Day, so anyone who had any damage from that tornado, should probably register with FEMA because there is possibly assistance for them,” Hammink said.

Hammink said that FEMA has already given about 13,000 dollars worth of grants. U – S Small Business Administration Public Affairs Specialist, Courtney Smith said the S-B-A offers a low-interest disaster loan. People can borrow up to $200,000 for structural repairs to houses.

“We work in conjunction with FEMA. We are sister agencies with FEMA actually, so in times of disaster when FEMA is deployed, S.B.A is also deployed. FEMA provides the grants which of course does not have to be repaid. The SBA provides the low interest long term loans,” said Smith.

If you are interested in getting help, you can call the S.B.A at 800 – 659- 2955 or FEMA at 800 – 621 – 3362
