Man Charged in McDonald’s Threats

Nicolas Hayes

A Coshocton area man faces charges for threatening people with a knife inside a McDonald’s restaurant.

The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office said 22-year-old Nicholas Hayes was charged Tuesday with attempted aggravated robbery. Additional charges may be filed by the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities said on August 31, around 11:15AM Hayes entered the McDonald’s and began to threaten people with it.

A patron of the store, 70-year-old James Bartlett, of Kentucky noticed the man and confronted him.

Bartlett, who has a concealed carry permit, drew his weapon and ordered Hayes to drop the knife. Hayes refused and left. Bartlett pursued him where he was able to convince Hayes to drop the knife.

Hayes was taken into custody without incident.
