Muskingum County Board of Elections is sending absentee vote by mail ballots

ZANESVILLE – The first day that ballots were mailed to residences was on October 6th. This means that a voter has made the decision to submit their vote from home and will not be allowed to vote at the precinct on election day. To avoid any confusion, Elections Specialist Cheryl West describes what to look for in your mailbox if you’ve requested an absentee ballot.
“This is what they need to be on the lookout for. There is a logo here and then there’s a box here at the bottom that states its an official absentee information inside and then there’s also instructions, the ballot, and the return envelope so all of that is inside this envelope so just be on the lookout. This is what is looks like if you decided to vote by mail,” West said.
West wants to let voters know that regardless if they are voting in person or as an absentee, their vote will be counted.
“A lot of people think that their vote may not count and that’s not the case. You’re a registered voter. We verify who you are. You go through that process and you’re providing us with a signature, identification information, and your ballot will count. Everything counts on election day whether you go to your precinct, whether you come here to the office, or whether you vote by mail so all of those do count,” West said.
West says social distancing and mask wearing is enforced at their office and to expect a line.
