ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It was the historic Masonic Temple fire that destroyed the work of the artist located in the building.

The ZAAP Gallery will be featuring some of those artists for Artist of the Month of March during the ‘First Friday’ Art Walk.

The artist’s new artwork will be on display, but their strength will also be shown as they get back into the flow of things.

“I believe that in particular this show gives encouragement to the artist and appreciation is expressed towards them because they’ve lost so much that the rest of the art community appreciates them and wants them to continue creating and wants them to participate in the art community going forward,” Rosemary Ludt, the Director of the ZAAP Gallery stated.

Residents can expect to see art pieces that represent the feelings and emotions of the losing their creations in the Masonic fire.

Ludt said one the artist Matt Fox, a stained glass artist, created an art piece named “Found” that displays a dragonfly with found pieces from the rubble of the fire.

“Attending ‘First Friday’ Art Walks is important because the artists are trying to find new places to establish themselves, establish new galleries and new studios, and they’ll be part of the art walk in the future. And just to visit their places, buy their art and tell them what you like,” Ludt said.

There are about 11 artists that are being featured and Ludt mentioned that Matt Fox will be located inside of Gemini’s Eclectic Emporium on the second floor along with other artists that were affected by the Masonic Temple fire.

Residents can also support the artists at the art auction that will be located at the Y Bridge Brewery later that night from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
