Small Business Saturday to help boost sales during the holiday season

ZANESVILLE, OH- Small Business Saturday is right around the corner. This nationwide initiative encourages people to support local businesses during the biggest shopping weekend of the holiday season.
Small Business Saturday takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving, between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The day was created in 2010 by American Express in response to the economic recession and dominance of large retailers during the holiday season.
“Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to highlight the small businesses in Zanesville, Muskingum County, it’s an opportunity for our consumers to go shopping at the small businesses, and our local small businesses, they give back, they’re the ones you see sponsoring the little league teams and other events going on in our community, so this weekend, think small, and think local,” said Zanesville-Muskingum County Chambers of Commerce President, Dana Matz.
Over the past 13 years, consumers have spent a reported 184-billion dollars during small business Saturday. More than 50 percent of small business owners look forward to Saturday making up a large portion of their overall holiday sales.
“We live in a very generous and caring and supportive community, and this is a way to be all three of those at one time, by shopping our local small businesses,” said Matz.
Remember, when you are out this thanksgiving weekend, be sure to visit some of your local small businesses.
