A day of nature, learning, and connection at Dillon State Park

NASHPORT, OH- Dillon State Park hosted their annual Earth Day celebration today at the Dillon State Park beach.
The event boasted a diverse array of activities, including engaging tree talks, insightful book discussions, interactive wildflower sowings and the BioBlitz, where participants cataloged local species while learning about them.
“Connecting people to the outdoors and nature, you know I like to say that every day is Earth Day because there’s a lot of things we could be doing on a daily basis to appreciate and respect what’s around us, but it’s just a good focal point to really drive home the connections that we have with the outdoor world,” Michael Durst, Dillon State Park Naturalist said.
Those that attended also had the opportunity to meet charismatic ambassador animals’ courtesy of Wild at Hart. Coffee Coven and Krooked Kitchen were also there to make sure everyone had a selection of food items.
“I would say keep an eye on our social media, we do post everything that is going on on a monthly basis and we are really looking for bigger and better every year, next year we will be back up to our normal area which is around our camp store and what will be our brand new nature center, so we’ll have a newly renovated camp store and nature center, and we’ll be looking at really expanding things and even bigger events and bring more fun and excitement for everybody,” Durst said.
