Rambo Memorial Health Center Launches Summer AC Program

ZANESVILLE, OH – With the hot summer days ahead, Rambo Memorial Health Center is trying to make it easier for residents to breathe better.

Every year, starting in May, Rambo will give out window air conditioner units to qualifying Muskingum County residents through their Air Conditioning Program.

Shannon Bell, the Executive Director of Rambo, says every year they aim to give out 100 AC units and in some years have given out more than that.

She also talked about how to know if you qualify for an air conditioner.

“You have to be a resident of Muskingum County,” Bell said. “You have to have a respiratory need so along with that respiratory need, you have to have an order from your Doc saying you would benefit from the use of an air conditioner and list what your respiratory need is. And then you need to qualify through income, it is income based, and we can provide those numbers to people if they give us a call.”

Bell says if you have received an air conditioner from them or Community Action in the last three years, then you cannot receive another unit. She says if you’re unsure of when you received your AC, you can come in and they can double check for you.

Bell also says this program is just another part in their mission; to be able to help out community members when they need it the most.

“Everything that we do here, we feel like we help people,” Bell said. “So when people come in and they say they have benefited from [an air conditioner] in the past that they wouldn’t have been able to breathe because it’s so hot where they live. It just reinforces all of the things that we do at Rambo.”
