Village of Roseville Honors Fallen Heroes with Memorial Day Parade
ROSEVILLE, OH – The Village of Roseville hosted a parade to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
The Memorial Day Parade kicked off at 11AM with members of the Roseville Police Department leading the way. Mike Sowers, the Sergeant at Arms at the Roseville American Legion Post 71, said they host this parade annually to continue to remember those who gave it all.
“These men and women have fought for us and have died for us,” Sowers said. “And it’s in our heart that we honor them.”
Sowers says a number of groups like the Philo Marching Band, Color Guard, as well as the local Volunteer Fire Department participated in the parade.
He says these groups always support the Legion in any way they can and it means the world to him.
“This is what should have been done over the years for every war, conflict, that has gone through,” Sowers said. “We need to honor all of them, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan, all those conflicts. We need to say, ‘Welcome Home.’”
The day wrapped up with a ceremony and speech by guest speaker, retired colonel of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Paul Pride.
