2024 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Was a Success
ZANESVILLE, OH – Last month, the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive saw incredible generosity from the community as area mail carriers collected non-perishable food donations left beside mailboxes.
This year, the dedicated carries of Branch 63 gathered nearly 60,000 pounds of food. Muskingum County’s support was outstanding, with contributions pouring in to benefit the 13 food pantries and four hot meal sites within the county.
“As letter carriers, we go door to door every single year and every single day to every door in America. We see the need in our community, and we have a lot of wonderful people who are going out there to meet the needs. We can fill that gap in getting food from those who wish to donate to those who are actually putting it to use,” Vice President of National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 63 George Walsh said.
This year’s collection saw an increase of approximately 4,000 pounds from last year. The efforts of Branch 63’s carriers made this massive collection possible, ensuring that many families will have access to nutritious meals over the coming months.
“For me, it’s just an amazing opportunity. As a letter carrier, seeing those needs and knowing we can utilize the skills that we have to fill that gap and getting those that can provide to those that need that assistance,” Walsh said.
The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will be happening again next year.
