MBH Kicks Off 4th of July Celebrations with Freedom Run
ZANESVILLE, OH – Muskingum County kicked off its Independence Day celebrations with a joyful start this morning, thanks to Muskingum Behavioral Health’s July 4th Freedom Run at Zane State College.
This family-friendly event combined the spirit of the holiday with a mission to raise funds for essential behavioral health services. Runners and walkers of all ages laced up for the 5K walk or run, bringing the spirit of freedom and community.
“It is a family event. One of the things with addiction and mental health is isolation. People isolate themselves, and on holidays, it’s even harder for people who are suffering with mental health and addiction. We felt this would be a good way to start the 4th of July. Getting out with other community members and being with people not only helps yourself, but it also helps the community,” CEO of Muskingum Behavioral Health Yolanda Taylor said.
Muskingum Behavioral Health expressed deep appreciation to everyone who took part, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in fostering mental wellness.
“One of the things that this race will help with is funds going back to our clientele, our alternative programs, and learning how to have fun in a healthy manner. Getting out into the public, making them feel like they are part of the community in a positive aspect. All the funds will go right back into our programs like groups and our alternative events. We take a lot of our clients fishing and things like that,” MBH Chief of Prevention/Recovery Support Kris Headley said.
This was the second year for the July 4th Freedom Run, and organizers are already looking forward to continuing the tradition next year.
