Commissioners Hear From Local Healthcare Provider

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Commissioners deal with a wide gamut of concerns that impact residents in the county.

Rambo Memorial Health Executive Director Shannon Bell updated the commissioners with some changes they expect to implement in respiratory care through the coming months.

“I wanted to update the commissioners on what we are looking at for 2025,” Bell said. “We had our levy pass in 2024. We’re so grateful to the voters for that. And we just wanted to let the commissioners know what we’re looking at, moving forward.”

One of the new ventures that Rambo is looking to take is to expand their oxygen program to fully cover the financially qualified patient’s copay for oxygen.

“So moving forward for 2025, we are looking to do a new program, which is going into our patients’ houses that have COPD,” Bell said. “And we want to help people not go back to the hospital. 90 percent of the time with COPD, it’s things in your own home that are causing you to go back to the hospital or to have an exacerbation of your COPD. Our goal is to help you fix those problems.”

During the meeting, Commissioner Drake Prouty suggested that Rambo should reach out to the local emergency management agencies to strategize a plan of action for reaching out to oxygen dependent patients during power outages.
