DeWine Declares April 20-26 Ohio State Parks Week
ZANESVILLE, Ohio–Governor Mike DeWine has declared April 20th through 26th Ohio State Parks Week, and Dillon State Park is in the midst of the celebration.
Ohio is one of the few states in the nation that doesn’t charge an entrance fee for its state parks making it the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors.
Park naturalist Michael Durst is encouraging those who can to come out and enjoy the warm weather at the parks.
“There are 76 State Park properties across Ohio all of them without any entrance fees. The nature center, overnight lodging options, trails, beaches, sporting areas, you name it we got a little bit of something for everybody,” Durst said.
At Dillon, renovations to the camp store and nature center were completed last year, and pollinator gardens are currently being added. The park offers year-round programming and is ramping up for a busy summer.
“There’s a lot of really amazing things in our state to take advantage of right in our backyard. We’ve got 76 state parks, but we also have wildlife areas, nature preserves and other public areas for people to get out there and enjoy without having to pay a dime to get out there and do it,” Durst added.
While Easter and Earth Day events have wrapped, Dillon State Park has activities planned throughout the month.
