Meet Archie!: This Week’s Dog of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Dog of the Week ain’t nothing but a lap dog!

Meet Archie! He’s a four-year-old beagle mix who’s neutered, kid and dog friendly, and is searching for his forever couch buddy.

Doug McQuaid, a Volunteer at the K-9 Adoption Center, said some of Archie’s favorite things are sitting on your lap, cuddling next to you on the couch, and being held.

“[He] enjoys going for walks, everything Archie does is just easy going and would be a fun, loving dog for any family with any amount of kids,” McQuaid said. “Even older people, he would still be good, he walks real easy and so forth so there’s really no limit to Archie, he’s just a fabulous dog.”

McQuaid also said with the temperature starting to rise outside, it’s important to take extra care of your furry friends.

He said dogs are more prone to dehydration when they’re drinking warm water; he recommends changing out their water often for fresh, cool water.

McQuaid also provided some tips for if your pet gets a little anxious during thunderstorms.

“Another thing we often talk about, if you would please, just have maybe an area in your house, garage, basement, just for an emergency,” McQuaid said. “That when you feel like the weather is getting bad or you know that it is going to, bring them in. Just for that period of time, you know, give them a secure area where they don’t try to get loose. Many times we hear where, you know, my dog never ran away before but when the storm came, it got loose and now we’re looking for it.”
