Kuwan Mayle Named Executive Director of NAMI Six County
ZANESVILLE, Ohio — NAMI Six County has named a new Executive Director.
Kuwan Mayle has accepted the role and hopes to continue the mission of NAMI. While NAMI is a national organization, this branch is rooted in focusing on local communities.
“NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness; we collaborate with other local agencies within the 6-county region. We work with places like Allwell, Perry Behavioral Health, all the different behavioral places to put on functions, peer-to-peer support and different things like that,” Mayle said.
The 6-county region includes Muskingum, Coshocton, Perry, Noble, Morgan and Guernsey.
NAMI Six County serves the area by educating and providing mental health resources, hosting support groups, advocating for mental health at both the state and local level, as well as engaging with the community.
“Our main goal is to really spread into the rural areas and the rural counties of our 6-county region. When you’re in a city like Zanesville or a county like Muskingum County, there’s a lot of resources for them. And as we are trying to grow and spread even more, we’re looking for more partnerships in those other counties so we can better serve the people of Appalachia Ohio,” Mayle added.
If you would like to support NAMI Six County, they will be hosting two events, one in August and one in September to honor veterans and open the conversation around mental health.
