Jackie Hoover

With a very heavy heart, we share the passing of a woman whose life was defined by compassion, service, and unwavering love, Jackie S. Hoover.

She was the kind of person who made the world feel softer just by being in it. Known for having the biggest heart, she dedicated her life to taking care of others-rather they were family, friends, or complete strangers. If someone was in need, she didn’t hesitate. She gave freely, loved deeply, and never turned away anyone in need.

As an elected official for 16 years and a public servant for 35 years, she didn’t just hold a position, she lived her purpose. She truly loved her work, and, more importantly, the people she served. She carried a special place in her heart for everyone, but especially for our veterans. She always had a very deep compassion for them. Her leadership was rooted with kindness, integrity, and a genuine desire to make the life of others better. To her community, she was more than a public servant, she was a steady presence, voice of compassion, and someone who always showed up.

She carried a quiet strength and a calming presence that could be felt the moment she walked into any room, in times of chaos or worry she was always the go to, the person who just made it better!

At home, she was the one who just fixed everything. A broken heart, hurt feelings, or just the common cold. Mom (Grandma) just fixed it all, whether it be with her wise words, a big hug, or simply her presence.

Even with her own struggles, she remained focused on others. When it was finally shared publicly that she had undergone a liver transplant, the outpouring of prayers and support was overwhelming. So many expressed, not only their love, but also their surprise-they had no idea she had been so ill, and that was who she was. She never complained, never drew attention to her own pain. Instead, she continued to ask about others. “Can I do anything for you?” Always putting their needs before her own.

But above all else, her greatest joy and proudest role was being a grandmother. She loved her grandchildren and great grandson with everything she had, fiercely, selfishly, and unconditionally. She never missed a ball game, a birthday party, or any moment to cheer them on even on the days she felt her worst. Her presence in the stands, her smile, and her unwavering support meant everything to the ones who loved her the most.

Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, but the love she gave so freely will continue to ripple through the lives she touched. She will be remembered for her generosity, her strength, and the way she made people feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in every act of kindness, every helping hand, and every moment of love she inspired. Jackie will be so deeply missed and forever and ever cherished.

Although her time at FairHoPe Hospice was short, our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to their incredible staff. From the doctors and nurses to the social workers and Chaplin. The compassion and care they showed, the support they gave our family, means more than we could ever repay. God bless you all.
