Jackie “Jack” Lee Warne, 82, of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on October 3, 1943, Jack was the son of Clarence “Tiny” Warne and Pearl Warne. He married the love of his life, Zeta Dyson, in 1964, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and a shared passion for horses.
Jack was one of the hardest-working men anyone could hope to meet. At just 13 years old, he began working on a horse farm full-time after school, developing the work ethic that would define his life. After graduating from Cambridge High School, he became a union carpenter and later worked for Higgins Building Company, where he advanced to the position of Foreman. In 1971, he fulfilled his dream of owning his own business and founded Jack Warne Construction Company. The company continues to thrive today under the leadership of his daughter, Lori Warne Jones. His youngest daughter worked for him from 1999 to 2010 where she learned the skills to become an inspector for the City of Cambridge before going to the Ohio Department of Development. Zeta was his secretary for many years before she began a career of her own in the oil and gas industry.
Beyond his construction career, Jack devoted countless hours to the horse industry. He trained horses in the evenings and was an accomplished competitor in the sport of reining. A respected leader within the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), Jack served as a board member and Vice President. During his tenure, he helped develop reining patterns that remain in use today, played a significant role in establishing the modern judging system for scoring horses, and worked alongside Tim Katona to help create the NRHA Youth Program, leaving a lasting impact on generations of horse enthusiasts. Colleen and her husband Steve continue his legacy in the NRHA as competitors.
Jack was a proud member of the Cambridge Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite and various other community and social clubs. He believed strongly in giving back to his community and generously supported local youth through sponsorship of girls’ softball and boys’ baseball teams.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Zeta Warne; his daughters, Lori (Nick) Warne Jones and Colleen (Stephen) Siadik; his sister, Nancy (Don) Mitchell; his brothers, Danny (Kathy) Warne and Porter (Dorothy) Warne; and several beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Tiny” Warne and Pearl Warne, and his brother, Thomas Warne.
Jack will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his generosity, his love of horses, and his dedication to his family, friends, and community. His influence can be seen in the many lives he touched, the businesses and programs he helped build, and the family legacy he leaves behind.
A memorial celebration will be scheduled and announced at a later date. The family asks that those wishing to honor his memory do so by supporting local youth programs, equine organizations, or by simply extending a helping hand to someone in need, as Jack did throughout his life.
