Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Trixie!

ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Pet of the Week is a spunky and high energy girl looking for her forever family.

Meet Trixie! She’s a 6 month old chihuahua and dachshund mix who’s spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and is ready for a space for her to burn off some extra energy.

April Gibson, the Executive Director, says Trixie’s ideal family would be an active one to help with that puppy playfulness and high energy spurts that come from a young pup.

“She’s going to want to be around kids, you’re going to want to have a space for her to run, take her for walks.” Gibson said. “Just let her burn off some of that energy, she is extremely high energy, we can’t stress that enough. You want to make sure she has her activities and enrichments, so she has a way to run it off or she will wear you out.”

Gibson says Trixie does well with other dogs and most of the time cats, but sometimes if the energy is high, Trixie will chase them.

She also wanted to thank everyone who made the 8th annual Putt 4 Paws at the Green Valley Golf Course a success, including the Moyer Group who took 1st place and donated their winnings back to the Animal Shelter.

“It was our biggest one! Last year we had 7 Top Dog Sponsors, this year we had 15, I did hit my goal of over 60 hole sponsors and we had close to 70.” Gibson said. “The amount of teams, what’s really cool about our event is you come in at 8 o’clock, sign up, and you’re home by 12:30 and it just makes for a really cool thing.”

Gibson also wanted to remind the community that there is only a week left for their $17.76 Adoption Special for cats 4 months and older.

She added that if you mention that you heard about the Special from watching our Pet of the Week segments that special will go for cats of any age.

This Feline Adoption Special is also going on at We Lov Pets, located at 3853 Northpointe Dr here in Zanesville.
