Dresden Fire Department Receives New Fire Truck

DRESDEN, Ohio – Last week, the Dresden Fire Department added a little something new to their crew.
That new addition is a 3,000-gallon tanker truck, including a thousand gallons a minute pump. They received this truck because of Ohio First Grants and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Dresden Fire Chief Harold Woldford said, “The truck will be replacing a homemade tanker that we’ve had over 20 years. This truck meets the NFPA standards. Has the rollover safety and all of the protection and things like that and airbags, so it’s going to be safer for the firefighters to drive.”
In comparison with their old homemade tanker truck, this new one has multiple additions that will help them do their job more efficiently. Micky Smith created Ohio First Responder Grants to give back to each branch within fire service.
“I used to be in a department that had gear that was duct taped together, held together with bale and twine and we used to have a fire truck that we had to shove a penny in the fusebox to get the thing to start. It’s very very rewarding for me to turn right around and just show these guys that there is a way out there, there’s a way to replace these trucks and keep your guys safe,” Smith said.
Through this grant, the Dresden Fire Department also received two new heart monitors, three automatic external defibrillators and a Lucas device. To find more information about Ohio First Responder Grants you can check out their Facebook.
