Child Pornography Arrest

Court (2)

A 27-year-old Malta man is behind bars in connection to an Athens County Child Pornography case.

John Creighton Shaw faces four charges of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person and two counts of tampering with evidence.

He appeared before a judge on Monday and his bond was set at $75,000 with no ten percent allowed.

The Athens County Prosecutor said they began investigation Shaw after items were found on the phone of another man, Richard Lee Adams. Adams was indicted by a grand jury in early July for pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person.

One other man was also arrested in connection with the case, 37-year-old Joshua Copeland of Guysville.

Copeland was indicted on seven counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, three counts of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor and one count of having weapons under disability.

Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said that the prosecutor’s office worked over the weekend with the Morgan County and Athens County Sheriff’s Offices to gather additional warrants at Shaw’s address and Adams’ residence.
