Fall Foliage

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Our region’s rural rolling hills make for scenic drives, especially in the fall.

Muskingum Valley Park District Executive Director Russell Edgington talked about the fall foliage and shared some of the best vantage points where those colors can be experienced.

“You know… River Road in either direction,” Edgington said. “It, I mean… of course I’m partial to the Muskingum Valley Park District facilities but if you go River Road in any direction, you know it’s following the river and the vistas and views are just tremendous.”

Many of the area’s native plants and shrubs are beautiful to experience up close throughout the various local parks but aerial and spacious landscape observations can provide a broader view of colors.

“Truly, probably, one of the best views is that bridge at Ellis Dam,” Edgington said. “It’s a short walk. You can park there at the Ellis Dam Park and Campground and just walk down to the trail. And then if you walk up just a couple hundred yards, you’re out in the middle of the bridge with an unobstructed view of river, water, and trees.”

So, as nature displays its annual burst of color, be sure to craft new memories while experiencing the occasion at any of the area’s public parks.
