Three Car Injury Accident on US 40 Westbound

The State Highway Patrol responded to a three car injury accident on US 40 Westbound at 5:29p.m. Friday evening which closed a portion of the road for over two hours.

According to Sgt. Melanie Appleman of the State Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Levi Hall of Zanesville was backing his 1989 Ford F-Super Duty into a private driveway with the assistance of 29-year-old Kasey Miller also of Zanesville. Miller parked his car in the right lane of US 40. He had left his vehicle to assist Hall. 22-year-old Cody Tusing was heading westbound on US 40 when he struck the rear of Miller’s 1998 Dodge Ram which then struck the driver’s side door of Hall’s Ford.

"When we arrived we found the white Ford pickup truck was pulling a trailer and was backing into a driveway here on US 40, the Dodge pickup truck was parked in the right hand lane of US 40 and was not occupied, and then a Dodge Durango was Westbound on US 40 and struck the rear of the Dodge pickup truck. After that impact it pushed the Dodge pickup truck into the white Ford that was backing into the driveway," stated Appleman.

Three people were transported to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital by Falls Township EMS with minor injuries. Those three include Hall and his two juvenile passengers who were not wearing their safety belts. Tusing was minorly injured in the accident and not transported to Good Samaritan.

Miller was cited for parking his car in the roadway, Tusing was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead and Hall was issued a citation for not using a child restraint. The crash remains under investigation.
