“Owls, Bats and Flying Squirrels, Oh My!” Presentation Underway at the MCLS New Concord Library

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Nocturnal animals are not talked about as much as they should and to some, they are seen as creepy.
The Muskingum County Library System (MCLS) New Concord Branch is trying to change that narrative through their “Owls, Bats and Flying Squirrels, Oh My!” program presented by Ohio Nature Education, according to Sean Fennell, Marketing and Community Relations Director at MCLS.
“This is a really wonderful program. One of the reasons we love partnering with this organization is because they actually bring the animals in,” Fennell stated. “So they bring their animal ambassadors into the program and for this one since it’s about nocturnal animals, it really is a wonderful time for our youngest patrons to be able to see some of these animals that they would not be able to see normally.”
Fennell said Ohio Nature Education provides much information about the wildlife for the Muskingum County area, the environment and how to be good stewards.
MCLS goal is to provide and expand experiences for people throughout the county. Whether that be for young children, teens or adults.
“It’s just a wonderful opportunity for us to be able to provide that and also get people into the library and you can also check out a lot of books so maybe it’ll spark an interest in your little one, and they will be able to check out some books and kind of feel that imagination,” Fennell said.
The presentation will be held this Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Residents can register online at muskingumlibrary.org under the events calendar.
