ZANESVILLE, Ohio – First responders routinely risk their safety in the line of duty without seeking reward but an Ohio based company is recognizing their efforts by offering them first dibs at tasting their new fried chicken recipe.

Kroger Corporate Affairs Manager Mark Bruce explains how tweaking their fried chicken recipe and delivering it to first responders gives them vital feedback as well as positive recognition.

“Kroger’s trying to recognize first responders in all the communities, which we serve as we get into this real busy holiday season, right,” Bruce said. “It’s a busy holiday season not just for first responders in our communities but also for our company and our grocery stores. And so to celebrate our first responders, thank them for their service, we’re bringing deliveries of fried chicken to all of the first responders, police departments, firefighters and fire stations in all the communities in which we serve. And just testing out this new recipe we have for fried chicken. Some of the crispiest and tasting chicken you will find.”

Bruce noted that customer feedback is essential to learn what is working and that serving their products to the first responders is a hands-on way of learning if the changes in their recipes are for the better.

“So the new fried chicken that we have at Kroger is double breaded, extra seasoning now and through taste tests that have been done, folks say it’s some of the crispiest chicken that you’ll find out there. So we’re just excited to share that with our customers and what better way to share than with some of our best customers, firefighters and police officers are some of the best customers you’ll ever find at any grocery store. So we’re just glad to be able to share this new recipe with whomever we can,” Bruce said.

The Zanesville Central Station firefighters were grateful for the generosity that was served in the spirit of Thanksgiving and the holiday season.
