Final Week to Support the MLK Jr. Food Drive

ZANESVILLE, OH – As January draws to a close, so does the opportunity to contribute to the Martin Luther King Jr. Food Drive, a community effort to combat food insecurity.
Organized by the Martin Luther King Scholarship Fund, this annual food drive began on January 15th and now is entering its final week with January 26th as the last day for donations. The drive is accepting a variety of non-perishable food items. Each donation will go to the 13 food pantries and the four hot meal programs within Muskingum County. Last year, over 750,000 meals were served through the Muskingum County Hunger Network.
“That’s what’s so exciting about this program. Martin Luther King saw the whole thing, not just the snap shots of the picture. We’re very happy that we’re part of that picture for the Martin Luther King Committee and that they’re sharing with us,” Christ’s Table Executive Director Keely Warden said.
Residents who wish to contribute can drop off their donations at two locations. Christ’s Table is open for donations on Monday through Thursday, from 7 AM to 3 PM, and on Friday from 7 AM to 2 PM. Additionally, Eastside Community Ministry welcomes donors on Monday through Thursday, from 9 AM to noon and 1 to 3 PM.
“Everybody gives at Christmas time. This is the time of the year when things start to die down just a little bit and the pantry shelves become bare. So, this is very important,” Warden said.
Christ’s Table is located at 28 S 6th St, Zanesville and Eastside Community Ministry is located at 221 Stillwell St, Zanesville.
