BBBS Announces 40th Annual Fundraising Event

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Zanesville leaves nothing to spare when making efforts to strike a positive impact with area youth.

BBBS Executive Director Katie Lupsor recently delivered some details regarding their ‘Bowl for Kids Sake’ fundraising event, which still rolls down the center of the lane, after 40 years.

“We are throwing it back to 1984, when it all began,” Lupsor said. “So our theme for the event is 80’s. So get your best ‘rad’ outfit on and join us on April 9th, 10th and 12th at Sunrise Bowling Center and we have a couple of different shift options for everyone. They can get all of that information at bbbsz.org or they can call our office (740) 453-7300. We’re just really excited this year.”

The Bowl for Kids Sake event is one of two major fundraisers that the organization holds. All proceeds stay in the community to help in providing support for mentoring area youth.

“Big Brothers, Big Sisters has a community based model, where an adult in the community meets once or twice a month with a child,” Lupsor said. “And of course promoting a very positive relationship, fostering that positive connection. And then we also, which is our bread and butter, we have a ‘Lunch Buddies’ program. And currently we’re in every public school district here in Muskingum County. So we have some really strong partnerships and that program is where an adult or high schooler sits once a week, October through April, at lunch with a child and our staff comes in and facilitates the program.”

The ‘Bowl for Kids Sake’ is open to the public and you can learn more details and register for the event online.
