ZANESVILLE, OH – The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra is preparing to take you to the stars and beyond with their final concert of the season.

The concert, entitled “Space, the Musical Frontier”, will be performed on Sunday, April 21st at 7PM at the Brown Chapel on Muskingum University’s Campus.

Dr. Laura Schumann, Music Director and Conductor of the Orchestra, talked about some of what you’ll hear at the upcoming performance.

“We’re doing some really great music such as the favorites, who does not love Star Wars, right? Star Wars is such a staple of space music and just of favorite movies” Schumann said. “We are also doing Star Wars: The Phantom Menace so we have some cool things there too.”

Schumann said they will also have musical selections from Star Trek, Apollo 13, and even some music from space themed video games.

She also said the reason for a spaced themed concert was because she was inspired by the eclipse that just happened on Monday.

Schumann is encouraging people to attend this concert not just for the music, but to also help support the community.

“The Southeastern Ohio Symphony is an incredible orchestra that’s made up of your friends and neighbors, right here.” Schumann said. “We have folks from this community, we have Muskingum University students and some other students from other Universities join us as well. We have lots of high school students from John Glenn and Philo so we have a neat mix of local folks. It’s a world class symphony with our own people from our own backyard.”

Tickets for the “Space, the Musical Frontier” concert are $20 and can be purchased at www.seoso.org

Children get into the concert for free with the purchase of an adult ticket and college students get in for free with a valid student ID.
