ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Many fundraising events are held throughout the year that support a variety of grants and scholarships, which make a difference in people’s lives.

Zanesville Business and Professional Women’s Club President Jennifer Reiter explained how her organization will be holding a fundraiser that supports an annual scholarship, which helps working women continue their education.

“The upcoming event is the Wild West Murder Mystery Dinner and it’s going to be held Saturday July 13th,” Reiter said. “The doors will open at 5 o’clock and if you want to play a character, we’re asking you to be there at 5:30. And then we’ll start right at 6. So you’ll want to get there before 6 to get registered.”

The western themed event will be held at the Zanesville VFW and will feature BBQ from Hiney’s Smokeshack. Tickets must be purchased at least two days in advance through Eventbrite.com

“Most of the proceeds go to the Elliott Scholarship Fund. and that helps nontraditional women going back to school,” Reiter said. “It helps with education expenses, could be anything from books, to you know, if they need help with their room or board or anything like that. This last year we gave away three $1,000 scholarships. We do have some sponsorship opportunities available.”

The Elliott Educational Endowment Fund was named after the first Zanesville Business and Professional Women’s Club President and has been awarded to Muskingum County women annually, since 1936.
