Columbia Gas of Ohio Raises Awareness During Hunger Action Month

ZANESVILLE, OH – September is Hunger Action Month and Columbia Gas of Ohio is helping to bring awareness to food insecurity.

Throughout the month of September, Columbia Gas will be partnering up and shining a light on many different community organizations across the state to help combat food insecurity.

Erica Chronaberry, the Communications Manager for Columbia Gas of Ohio said 1 in 7 people are currently facing some kind of food insecurity.

“1 in 5 of those people are children,” Chronaberry said. “It’s the time of year that we really like to spread awareness for Hunger Action Month and let people know that it’s important to step up and help your neighbor.”

Chronaberry said throughout this month, Columbia Gas employees will be out volunteering at food pantries and drives but they will also be helping out their customers as well.

“We don’t want to see people have to choose between putting food on the table or heating their homes,” Chronaberry said. “We offer and have payment plans out there, where we can help customers figure out the best payment plan for them so they can still take care of the other necessities that they need. We’re always looking for ways to support our community members, our customers and if this is just one of those ways we can do that, we’re happy to.”

If you are interested in seeing if you qualify for a payment plan or for more information you can call 1-800-344-4007.
