Anderson Sworn in as a Judge in the Muskingum County Court of Common Pleas
ZANESVILLE, OH – Former Muskingum County Assistant Prosecutor Gerald Anderson was officially sworn in on October 17th as a judge in the Muskingum County Court of Common Pleas.
The ceremony took place at the courthouse, marking Anderson’s transition into his new role. He is filling the seat previously held by Judge Mark Fleegle, who recently retired. Anderson has a background in prosecuting cases involving domestic and sexual violence, and he is bringing a lot of experience to the bench.
“I’ve handled a lot of cases and I’ve been in front of the judges a lot, which has helped. I think the main thing I took from it was learning about the community, some of the needs of the community, and how to seek accountability, justice, and make sure the community is safe. Also, that people who have made mistakes have the chance to come back from them and move forward,” Anderson said.
Anderson’s background in handling cases has earned him a strong reputation in the legal community. As judge, his focus remains on holding individuals accountable and delivering justice for victims, while maintaining an orderly courtroom.
“Some general goals are just making sure that I continue the legacy that Judge Fleegle has left of holding people accountable, while also making sure that the courtroom is fair, that justice is fair, that justice is served, and make sure that things are moving,” Anderson said.
Anderson says he’s excited to start his role as judge and looks forward to serving the community.
