Ian Lauer’s Kenpo Karate and Pit Stop Express Celebrate Grand Openings at Colony Square Mall

ZANESVILLE, OH – Two local businesses at the Colony Square Mall celebrated on February 5th with official ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

Ian Lauer’s Kenpo Karate celebrated its grand opening, offering American Kenpo training for all ages. Students can expect to learn freestyle sparring, forms and sets, and techniques. The martial arts studio welcomes students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. As a special promotion, anyone who signs up for classes in February will receive the month of March for free

“There are a lot of different martial arts systems out there. Kenpo karate that I teach here is American Kenpo, which is a derivative of Chinese Kenpo. You have a lot of the circular type movements that you would see in a Kung Fu, but it does come through Hawaii and Okinawa, so you also have the linear movements of a Chinese karate. You get the combination of a nice circular movement of the Kung Fu systems and the linear movements of the more karate systems,” Ian Lauer said.

Meanwhile, Pit Stop Express also held its ribbon cutting. The quick-service eatery serves up favorites like corn dogs, chicken nuggets, fries and more. It’s perfect for shoppers looking for a snack on the go.

“We wanted to give the public some good food, some different selections and kid friendly menus too. We have kids’ meals and combos. Our prices are really low, you’re not going to find good food like we have for the price that we have, ” Owner of Pit Stop Express, Derek Edwards said.” We have chicken patty sandwiches, spicy chicken patties, sloppy joes, and shredded chicken. A lot of the sides that we have are fried foods that you can only get at sit down restaurants like fried pickles, fried mushrooms, and onion rings. We also have deep fried hot dogs, mac and cheese bites, and cheese sticks. We have a lot of good stuff.”
