Muskingum University Is Earning Acclaim

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum University was recently recognized by U.S. News and World Reports as a ‘Best Value’ institution in Ohio.

Muskingum University President Sue Hasseler shared how the university’s efforts toward expanding their curriculum has drawn all kinds of acclaim.

“We received a Choose Ohio First grant of over $1 Million dollars,” Hasseler said. “And the Choose Ohio First program is a state program that supports students who are interested in pursuing the science, technology, engineering, mathematics or health science disciplines. And so this money will provide scholarships to Muskingum students, both traditional undergrad and our adult learners to pursue these areas that are so needed in our region.”

In many cases, 21st century technology demands post secondary education and Muskingum University is taking a proactive stance toward developing relevant graduates at affordable tuition rates.

“And Adult Learning, we are expanding our programs that really match the workforce needs of our region,” Hasseler said. “(We) Just received another wonderful award of… over a million dollars to support our adult learners pursuing careers in the health sciences and beyond. That is actually called the WORC grant. It’s focusing on developing the workforce in Appalachia.”

Muskingum’s efforts to provide the skill sets that are required for the high tech job openings, which regional employers are looking to fill, is being recognized and getting rewarded.
